Explorer and wildlife biologist Lizzie Daly is in Australia on a mission. She aims to uncover the secrets of the continents coasts and unmask the mysteries that lurk in its deep, ancient waters.

Australia is home to some of the most unique wildlife on the planet. It’s waters house over 1700 species of coral and 4000 species of fish. More than 80% of its plants, mammals, reptiles, and frogs are found nowhere else in the world.

Lizzie journeys on an epic road trip of extremes, travelling over 30,000km. From the tropical reefs of northern Queensland to the cold-water shores of South Australia and through to the wild currents of Western Australia. Along the way she encounters a plethora of freaky, fabulous fauna.

Drawing on the expertise of the world’s leading specialists, Lizzie explores how Australia – renowned for its harsh climate – has such diverse and flourishing wildlife, and how life has adapted to meet its demands. From the most venomous jellyfish in the world, to the humongous humpback whale, with many mind-blowing moments along the way.

Lizzie meets the people risking it all to better understand and protect this underwater Eden. World-leading marine biologists and indigenous park rangers explain how the increasing presence of people, climate change, and other varying factors have caused huge negative impacts on the local wildlife. They talk about what can be done to help.

A dynamic mix of stunning behavioural footage and scientific revelation. Deep Dive Australia is a celebration of the most stunning seas on Earth and the lengths marine scientists are going to, to help preserve them.
